Renee's Story
After H.S. Grad I went to Mt SAC and became a Registered Nurse. I took my state boards on my 20th birthday. I began working at Intercommunity Hospital in Covina and stayed there for two years. In the meantime I was dating my one and only boyfriend who I met in church in Anahiem. He got out of the Airforce and we were married on 9-11-1976. We moved to Fullerton and I came to like Orange County very much. I decided to work closer to home so started working on the Oncology unit at Martin Luther hospital in Anaheim. I learned more every day and became certified in Oncology. I also got my BSN and became manager of the unit. Gordon worked in Costa Mesa and we bought a condo in East Anaheim. We enjoyed being dinks for that period of time. By 1987 we were restless and looking for a change so we visited friends that had moved to southern Oregon. After about 5 visits we decided we would like to try a change in scenery. Neither of us had lived in a small rural area before but we headed up the Oregon Trail in March of 1988. We both found good jobs, and bought our home in 1990 on 2.5 acres. We started to think about a family but...Expand for more
were faced with infertility. With a lot of medical help and prayers we were blessed with a healthy baby girl in Jan. 1995. After 28 years as a Florist and retail business my husband semi retired to take care of Darcy when she was 4. As she started to school he began to work part-time at her school. She is now in 8th grade and Gordon is still at the elementary school. I have been working for 14 years now as a home visiitng nurse thru our local hospital. I will probably retire at this job or switch to hospice which I also like. Our senior family followed us to Grants Pass. First my Grandmother, in 1990, but she died in 2006. My parents came in 1992 and we brought Gordon's Mom here in 2006. So we are busy caring and doing life with them.
Our daughter's sport is dance so this summer her dance took us to Disneyworld for 2 weeks. It was sure fun to see what that was all about. We were Disney fans when we lived in Anaheim. Our femily comes to visit often from California and we really enjoy having them. My youngest sister Maryann and her husband will come for Thanksgiving this year. That should bring you up to date for now.
